Why South Asia

India has made a significant contribution towards production of cotton fiber, growing incredibly to become the world's second largest producer. Pakistan has doubled its textile and clothing exports over the past few years; Bangladesh's garment exports have increased by 170% since 2001–02; and Sri Lanka's textile and clothing exports have increased by 40% since 2004.
